Do You Struggle Hitting Out Of Bunkers – Part 3

Are you struggling with getting balls out of a bunker with the lip a bit higher?

I know that people struggle with a low lip. If you can’t get the ball out of a low lip bunker, how can you get it out of a high lip bunker? I’m going to show you exactly what you need to be doing.

You have seen a couple of videos lately of me talking about a low lip bunker and what to do and what to make sure you are doing with you club face and your arms when you are coming through a shot. We’re going to do the same thing here and you will notice it is the exact same swing action even with a higher lip bunker.

Recapping on what we did last week, or the last time you saw this video, making sure to go back and through and hold. That was it, something really simple.

We need to make sure to do exactly the same thing here with the ball. Go back, swing, hold. That’s all you need to do, but if it doesn’t come out of the bunker don’t get discouraged, just keep working at it until it comes. If I do it again, same thing, back, swing, hold.

Notice I am not trying to do anything special with it, notice I am not pulling the club around my body. Notice all I am doing is just going forward and notice that the ball is coming out.

A really, really simple tip. Go back and make sure you watch this video, rewind it and make sure that you watch the action so that you know exactly what you need to do and then go and practice.

Many times, I see people who don’t practice bunker shots, absolutely no practice and yet they expect to come out of the bunker!

You can’t expect it to happen. Go into the bunker and do this drill, do the low lip drill as well, you would have seen it previously, so that you can start getting the feel of what you need to do with your bunker shots.

    Thanks Tiff.

I’m trying to have the picture of your lovely easy swing in the bunker with the ball flying out imprinted into my head. I know I get very tense with this shot and that tension always leaves me still in the bunker! Particularly the deep ones at Terrey Hills. So I’m off tomorrow to practice what you preach!
    I’ll get there eventually!!

    Thanks for all your encouragement.

    Jenelle xx

      Hi Jenelle

You too have that nice easy rhythm when you are calm… and it does look easy like my swing.

      Just keep working on it.

      You will get there.

      Tiff 🙂
