#86 Web TV: How To Improve Putting In A Game

Discover how to improve putting in a game…

Today’s tip is really how you can learn how to score better when you are out on the golf course.

What I see quite often on the golf course is that people struggle with their putting and they don’t reach their potential with their putting.

Golfers in general will expect to be able to putt their balls into the hole from anywhere on the green and do no practice at all… yet expect results. And the results don’t come.

How can we approach that in a better way?

You are going to learn a strategy here that will help you improve your putting… and improve you scoring when you are playing out on the golf course.

What I see most of the time is that players work with the strategy to get the ball past the hole. Because that is what they have heard somewhere… or they have been told by other golfers and other coaches. I am not saying that the other coaches are wrong… I am just saying that for the average golfer… who doesn’t practice their putting then there has to be a better way, an easier way.

So what happens here is that if you have been taught this strategy… then the problem here is that the ball will fly past the hole… leaving you another long putt back. Again you encounter some frustration because you are still trying to sink the ball.

Here is YOUR Strategy on How To Improve Putting In Your Game… from now on!

This strategy I share with all of my clients. I usually don’t share this one on video but I will.

Your aim is to putt your first putt from where ever you are on the green inside on metre from the hole. You do want to make sure that you are really good at one metre putts.

I always stress that to my clients constantly to be really good at 1 metre putts… sinking 9 out of 10 balls, then you have a chance of putting the ball into the hole in 2 putts.

So the plan is to get the ball as close to the hole as you can… inside a metre then it’s highly likely you will have 2 putts on each hole.

That’s it in a nut shell but make sure you view the video above so you can discover how to improve putting in your game.

Hi Tiff: Great tip! Yes, puts the pressure off to sink it in one putt which usually goes far past the hole or too short. Will try today and me and Anne in NH. It’s a very good mind strategy. Thanks!!

Such a great tip that really works….sadly the hole is often too tempting to resist…hence my appalling putting!
Thanks for this fabulous reminder Tiff

    • Tiffany Mika November 3, 2015 at 8:12 am #

      Hey there Helen

yes I know it works… let go of the feeling that you have to sink it from everywhere… get it close because you will find that you will sink more putts than ever before.

      Tiff 😉

You always make it look easy. Had my first 18 holes yesterday in the Tuesday comp. Needed to have watched this video first as my putting was bad. Will keep this video in my mind for next week. Thanks great tip.

      Hey there Karen

The only reason I make it look easy because of all those years of hard work and practice. Keep working on your putting you will get there. I hope you enjoyed your first 18 hole comp.

      Tiff 🙂
