#83 Web TV: What’s The Perfect Swing?

What is the perfect swing for you?

Have you ever felt that your perfect swing is actually your practice swing?

I can hear you say ‘Yes’!

I have many a discussion with people that I teach about the perfect swing (your practice swing)… and some believe it is good to have one and some believe that it is not good to have one.

I am here to reassure you that your practice swing is incredibly important.

This is because your practice swing is the swing that you want to produce when you are standing over the ball.

Hence the perfect swing!

I see many times club golfers do a really quick practice swing to try and just get the practice swing over and done with as fast as they can… then get set over the ball and swing the club as fast as they can.

What will happen… most times is that you won’t hit the ball clean, you could top the ball (check out the video above)… it can run along the ground… it can go in a completely different direction than planned.

There are other elements of course involved in a perfect swing… however in order for your to produce a good shot in your golf game… you need to do a practice swing first.

Why practice swing?

Like I have said previously… because your practice swing is the swing that you want to produce when you are standing over the ball.

Not only that but you also want to create a nice easy rhythm for your swing. Your golf game, your golf swing, your perfect swing should have a nice easy rhythm to it.

The easier the rhythm the easier the shot.

So the plan for you here is… perform a nice easy practice swing… nice slow rhythm… then when you stand over the ball… you perform the same swing rhythm that you created in your practice swing.

Then you will have the perfect swing.

Thanks For the tip Tiff , I’ve been looking forward to seeing it is week.
I usually do a practice swing but some days when I’m tired I conserve energy!
I have noticed lately that I’m digging into the ground in front of my ball , I just can’t work out what I’m doing to cause that , but I feel I might be bending my knees a ltlle just before the club hits the ball ?? Any tips on that ?
    Thanks for the tips

      Hey there Kris…

Well practice swing is of the utmost importance… it should be part of your game for sure.

Digging into the ground in front of your ball? Hmmm, can’t give you proper feedback but yes you could be bending your knees a bit… and you may be a little bit too handsie. I would have to actually see your swing to make a comment, there could be other factors involved.

      Glad you enjoy the tips.

      Tiff 😉
