How to Improve Putting and Start Scoring Better
This week’s tip I am really excited to share with you because I want to show you how to improve putting… so that you can start scoring better when you play your golf games.
How exciting, I hear you say!
What you will need to do for this is to start to understand what is happening in your putting game.
Majority of golfers love to get out and play golf, expect to play well, not really sure why they don’t play well, get frustrated, carry that frustration to their next round…don’t perform well and the cycle continues.
Well I want to show you how you can take charge of your game right now, by starting to understand your game better.
Today we are going to look at your putting and there is a really important and valuable exercise I want you to do.
If you choose not to do this exercise, you will just have to accept the skills set you have and live with the scores you get.
If you choose to do this exercise, congratulations because this will be your first step to really getting to understand your golf game.
Shall we begin?
This is what I want you to do;
- You will need an A4 sheet of paper.
- On that A4 sheet of paper you will need 3 columns.
- 1st column is numbers 1 to 18 to represent 18 holes.
- 2nd Column is length of first putt.
- 3rd Column is total number of putts.
When you play your next game, on each hole you want to record the length of the first putt prior to putting it. It is an estimate of your first putt. After you have then finished your hole I want you to record the amount of putts you had for that hole.
Just record all the info when you are recording your golf score at the next hole when you are waiting to tee off. Do it as you go, don’t wait until you have finished your round, as you won’t remember your first length putt.
Once you have finished your round, take a look at each hole, and look at how far your first putt is from the hole.
If there a pattern there?
How many putts do you have?
You may find that your first putts are way too long and that’s where the pressure is…your approach shot into the green may be poor.
It will be interesting what you have come up with…
I am looking forward to you sharing with me below how your putts were in your next round.
Looking forward to hearing from you…so I can show you how to improve your putting and start scoring better.
