This week’s tip is a follow-on from last week, How to Do a Simple Bunker Drill.
This drill is designed to get rid of the famous wrist flick I see with golfers when they play bunker shots. The problem I see is that golfers tend to “try to help the ball out” by “lifting up the club”.
What ends up happening is that they scoop the ball, it either goes nowhere or just only a few feet forward, with the ball yet to roll back down to where you are and you start the whole process again.
All of a sudden you play two maybe three shots before you get it out of the bunker, then you may have a few putts to get the ball in the hole…. then whoa you have ended up with 8, 9 or even 10 shots on the hole.
Can be what I call “soul destroying”. Then you feel so nervous about playing another bunker shot that the likeliness of the ball going into the bunker because you have it in your mind about the fear of the bunker…before you know it you are in the bunker….. then you go through the whole process again.
In the video above, we can tackle the bunker in a positive way and take out that fear, as I can show you how to take action and work on a constructive shot that will give you lots of confidence and bunkers you will no longer fear. You just need to know what to do.
